2 new and a couple updates

Alrighty so I feel like I need to update this thing. These pictures are from when my parents were here but I seem to have left out an establishment or two so I needed to go back and add them in.

Pack's Tavern

Pretty nice place, a Ritz tavern if I’ve ever seen one. Nice big bar and they gave me pickled okra which is awesome. Okay beer, I can’t remember but I think they just serve local stuff not brew their own, but still pretty good.
Mellow Mushroom

All the beers are above our heads!
Alright so Mellow Mushroom is technically a pizza joint however they served really good beer, and isn't this a blog about good beer, I think it is, and aren't I the one writing this? why yes I am, so I get to decide anyways, after a long morning of drinking in Asheville we decide that we are hungry so what goes good with beer you might ask. Pizza would be my answer, and yes I know I gave away the punch line before the question was asked. Anyways so pizza. Pretty good, lots of strange topping choices. I got the philosopher's pie with grilled steak Portobello mushrooms, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, provolone, feta and mozzarella cheese. Needless to say it was pretty freakin good. Can’t really remember what mom and dad got, because I was in pizza heaven.
He's Bitter and he likes it!
Next I have a few updates. with more or less just pictures!

Barley's Taproom upstairs not to be confused with downstairs

Fantastic. Still pretty early it's about 715. Only people upstairs although downstairs is popping judgin by the music and noise. I'm drinking Catawba Valley King Coconut Porter. Mmm toasted coconut in a beer 2 of my favorite things. Too bad I'm not at the beach, toes in the water ass in the sand. But it will do. Still pretty good just made the transition to downstairs. More of a brewpub atmosphere. Live music. Not pool or foose ball tables but still pretty good. They serve food downstairs but not upstairs. And upstairs is 21 and older only. Cool spot.

Pisgah brewing company

In a warehouse. Open garage bays. Purple velvet wall coverings. Only 4 Pisgah brews on tap. All other ones are from other breweries. All organic beer. Kind of interesting. They also have a food truck. It's BBQ. Not my favorite beer. Mom and dad like it but I'm no the biggest fan.

Bywater and Shakeys

Alright so I have one new and one not so new one. went to Bywater, of and yes it is by water, the French Broad river, and yes you can kayak up to the bar and people frequently do. So anyways Monday was bluegrass night so the girls (Rachel and Jessica) decided to make the trek to Asheville for a nice pickin. I stopped at the store got some food and decide to grill out. Who would have decided to check the weather to see if grilling out was a good idea or not. Well I didn't. So it started pouring! So we went next door to the nice local biker bar, called Shakeys. And yes it is just as it sounds, loud, smoky, rowdy, and awesome! PBR tall boys only 2.50 what a steal! Pool only .50 a game, pretty sweet. Needless to say we stayed there for a couple hours till the rain blew through. then went back to Bywater to finish grilling, this whole time all our stuff had just been sitting on a picnic table, and you know what no one touched a thing. How cool is that. So about half way through dinner at 9pm the pickin started, it’s really just a bluegrass circle, if you have a banjo bring it up and pick on it, someone wants to try pickin, hand over your banjo. Very laid back and very talented. Anyways it was dark so no pictures this time but next time I will take some pictures of Shakeys to add to this blog.

This ones for Joe. Bywater club

I am now a proud member of Bywater. It is like itap they don't server food. But in North Carolina they have a law where if you don't serve beer then it has to be a private club. 5 dollar annual membership. I thought I liked the wedge. I love Bywater. :) I will be be frequenting this establishment. /:)

Smoky Mountain Brewery

At Smoky Mountain Brewery in Gatlinburg TN. Not exactly beer city but pretty close. So so beer and not a one of a kind brewery. There are like 4of them. So not sure this counts. They brew beer but not all the beer they serve is brewed here.

The wedge brewing company

I think I have found my new favorite brewery. Okay so this is the second time I have been here. I'm with Rachel she is one and done. We are sitting outside in the exact spot I sat last time except its raining. So no bags game this time. In my note I said this place has "an amazing hippy flavor" which is completely correct. The furniture is welded car parts. It's in the basement of an art studio and it's next to a train track. Everyone is friendly. Today I'm having an oatmeal stout on nitro. I have come to believe that Asheville loves nitro. Most stouts I have had are on nitro which is awesome. I might try the taco truck which serves creeps and empanadas so I guess not really a taco truck. But should be delicious as I sit here looking out over where the bags games would be if it was dry. A train comes rumbling through and there is a steady stream of people at the truck. Itap should think about it. The brewery doesn't serve food there is a truck in the parking lot that does. Awesome
